When COCARAN retracts its eyes and legs, it is almost indistinguishable from a coconut. Their shells are very buoyant, so they float in water.
Biology[]
Physiology[]
Cocaran are a crustacean Pokémon whose spherical body resembles a coconut in appearance. Its carapace is covered in brown hairs and has three dark spots on its upper portion, also resembling a coconut. It has six leaf-like legs, and its black, beady eyes are situated on eyestalks.
Special Abilities[]
Cocaran store water in their shells and can spray it out with decent force in order to repel predators. They can also bury themselves in the sand and look just like a dropped coconut.
Behavior[]
Cocaran are skittish Pokémon that would rather dig a hole and hide than fight.
Habitat[]
Cocaran live on sandy beaches. Their shells are buoyant, so they float on the ocean's surface, allowing tides to carry them to new habitats.
For Halloween 2016, a special Cocaran was released as a Mystery Gift. It has a new sprite, 31 IVs in all stats, and has the Mystery Gift-exclusive ability Filter.
The Cocaran line (Sp ATK), in addition to the Xenomite evolution line (ATK), are the only Pokemon part of a 3 stage line that have a base stat which never increases.
Design Origin[]
Cocaran seems to be based the real life coconut crab, in particular the juveniles which use coconuts as shelters, and coconuts.
The Halloween Cocaran is based on a coconut crab and a pumpkin instead.
Name Origin[]
Cocaran's name might be a portmanteau of the words coconut and caranguejo (Portuguese word for crab) .
