Nuclear |
The Nuclear Type is a new Pokémon type introduced in Pokémon Uranium, bringing the total number of types present in the game to nineteen (19).
Nuclear can be considered a type akin to the Shadow-type in Pokémon Colosseum and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness. Regular Pokémon that are exposed to an undue amount of radiation will become corrupted and feral, turning a different color. Unlike the Shadow-type, however, those who have become corrupted can evolve, even Pokemon which evolve through friendship.
Corrupted Nuclear Pokémon are much more aggressive than normal Pokémon and have been likened to mindless monsters that will attack anything in sight. The player can catch them, but they may disobey orders. During the course of the story, corrupted Nuclear Pokémon can be cured to act normally and obey orders. Their typing, appearance, and moveset will remain the same. Naturally occurring Nuclear-type Pokémon, such as Urayne, Nucleon, and Hazma, are stable and will behave normally without any special treatment.
In earlier versions, certain feral Nuclear Pokémon could breed (Nuclear forms would produce non-nuclear offspring). However, this was a glitch that has since been corrected. Pokémon that are naturally Nuclear type can breed (Nucleon, Hazma, Geigeroach, and the Xenomite line).

Pokémon[]
There are currently 7 known natural Nuclear-type Pokémon, which is about 3% of all Pokémon.
There are also 36 Pokémon that can have an alternate form with the Nuclear subtype, if they were corrupted by radiation from nearby radiated sources. Pokémon that aren't naturally Nuclear-type are aggressive, and may disobey their trainers if caught. They also cannot breed.

Trivia[]
- Prior to 1.3.1, all Nuclear-type Pokémon that could Mega Evolve would be part Dark-type in their usual Mega Evolution, with Baariette being the only exception. This changed with the introduction of Nuclear Dramsama, whose normal Mega is Psychic/Ghost, and whose new Dark Mega retains its Dark typing when Mega evolving a Nuclear Dramsama.
- On dual-type Pokémon (with the exception of Nuclear Actan), the Nuclear-type is exclusively a secondary type. For Actan, the Nuclear type replaces its primary typing (Dark). On all other corrupted Nuclear-type Pokémon, the Nuclear type replaces their secondary typing or is added onto a single typing.
- Nuclear is the only Type to be weak against Normal-Type moves.
- There are a number of corrupted nuclear Pokémon that become unobtainable (without trading) by the end of the game:
- The Chyinmunk line becomes impossible to obtain after Nuclear Plant Epsilon.
- The Chupacho, Corsola, Magikarp, and Tubjaw lines all become unobtainable after Nuclear Plant Omicron.
- Prior to 1.3.1, The only way to encounter a Nuclear Masking and Dramsama was in a Custom Game with the randomizer mode active, despite the two Pokémon previously lacking nuclear form sprites.
- Prior to 1.3.1, Nuclear moves were simply innately known by a feral Nuclear Pokémon that was encountered regardless of level, somewhat like Shadow Pokémon in Colosseum and Gale of Darkness.
- Nuclear moves were also much less widely distributed. For example, no feral Nuclear Pokémon could learn Proton Beam and Atomic Punch was Urayne's Signature Move, as was Nuclear Wind for the Mystery Gift Nuclear Pahar.
