"Gift Pokemon" is a classification given to any Pokemon that is obtained by the player without catching it in a battle. The major difference between these and other Pokemon is that they are completely unaffected by the Shiny Charm, thus, the odds of getting a Shiny Gift Pokemon will be 1/1024 = 0.1% no matter what.
