Mythical Pokémon are extremely rare Pokémon only obtainable through special events including Mystery Gifts. Not to be mixed up with Legendary Pokémon, Mythicals can easily be compared to Legendaries as both are rare and stronger than regular Pokémon. Additionally, both groups are often connected to each other through several stories, legends and myths. The currently unreleased Zephy is the only Mythical Pokémon in Tandor's Pokédex.

Another method of helping to distinguish Mythical Pokémon can come from their base stats. Historically, almost all Mythical Pokémon have a stat total of 600 and many of those have 100 points in every category, such as Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Shaymin, Victini, etc. Though it's worth noting that some Mythical Pokémon like Deoxys and Darkrai buck the 100 in every stats trend and Arceus has a stat total of 720, though like the earlier Mythical Pokémon, has the same number in every stat category.
