Orchynx (ore-CHINKS) is a dual-type Grass/Steel Pokémon.

Biology
Orchynx is a short, dark green, quadrupedal feline Pokémon with a metallic grey underbelly. Light green stripes appear on its forehead and run down its back. Its cheeks are a similar metallic grey to its belly, and both its eyes appear closed at all times. Three metal rings adorn its body; one on its front left leg, one on its right hind leg, and one on its tail, which also sports a white-tipped bulb at the end.
Orchynx's tail is its main source of attack. It can be used physically to bludgeon enemies with a heavy metal ring around it, and the bulb on its end can shoot powder and create energy leaves to be thrown toward whatever is threatening it. Metal plates under Orchynx's fur shield it from attacks, and despite its largely metallic body, it is reasonably nimble. Wild Orchynx are rare, however; almost an extinct species in natura, as their shy demeanor hinders their ability to find mates. To improve the hardness of its metal rings, Orchynx is known to steal small metal objects and eat them. It often lives in large forests, staying inside bushes during the day and only leaving under cover of night. On the other hand, however, it is also known to nest on top of trees, and replenishes its energy by basking in sunlight.

Trivia
- In order to get Orchynx, you must have a "defensive" personality in the Pokémon Trainer Test. To get this result, answer the questions in the following way:
- Wait and see what it does.
- Protect
- Gliscor
- Exploring the region
- In earlier versions, Orchynx's Pokédex entry read: "ORCHYNX is always seen stealing rings and other metal items. It adds them to its armor by ingesting them."
- If the player chooses Orchynx and loses against Theo, various NPCs will be confused as to why they lost, claiming they had the advantage over Eletux with a super-effective move, despite Orchynx not learning its first Grass-type attack, Vine Whip, until level 9. This is likely an oversight.
Design Origin
Orchynx is based on a kitten. The tip of its tail resembles a flower bud or bulb.
Name Origin
Orchynx is a combination of orchard and lynx. It may also contain ore in reference to its Steel typing.
