Route 10 - Baykal Forest (BAY-cal) is the only path in and out of Amatree Town. Amatree Town lies to the west of Route 10, Route 4 lies to the east. It is often raining heavily in this area.
Baykal Forest is home to many Bug and Grass type Pokémon. The entrance to the forest is blocked off by a large boulder, which can only be moved by a Pokémon that knows Strength with a trainer that has earned the fourth gym badge.
Places of Interest[]
Berry Trees[]
Scattered through Route 10 are numerous berry bushes filled with Guara, Cupu, Bacu, and Acai berries. The residents of Amatree Town use these berries as an alternate currency. If you plan on stocking up on any items in town, you should harvest a few berries on your way there.
Several large tunnels dug out by swarms of Bug Pokémon crisscross beneath Route 10's forest floor. The upper levels of Anthell, despite their danger, provide the only means of over-land travel across Route 10 to Amatree Town. No one really knows how deep the tunnels go, but legends talk of a nest hidden deep under the ground where the mother of all Sponee, Tricwe, and Smore dwells.
Surfing east from Amatree Town there is a small path to the south. Along this path is a house, inside is a man who will EV train your Pokémon in the Special Attack stat for 500. In the minigame, you need to use precise timing to hit a bar so your Pokémon will hit a sandbag. When you have hit ten times, your score is divided into the amount of EV points for the Special Attack stat.
Prior to 1.2.6, you could skip the fight with Theo by trading a Pokemon that already knows Surf before coming to Route 10 since the water is accessible before the trigger to fight Theo. Returning to the trigger point from either direction would prompt Theo to appear, fight you, and give you the HM for Surf if you win.
