This move summons a Sandstorm onto the field for 5 turns (8 if the user is holding a Smooth Rock), including the turns it was used. This clears any other type of weather.
While Sandstorm is in effect:
All Pokémon who are neither Steel-, Rock-, nor Ground-type will be damaged 1/16 of their maximum HP at the end of each turn.
Pokémon in the semi-invulnerable turn of Dig and Dive will also not take damage from Sandstorm, regardless of type.
Pokémon with the Sand VeilAbility have the accuracy of any move used against them modified by a factor of 4/5.
