Yawn is a sleep-inducing Normal-type move.
Effect[]
Yawn makes the target drowsy. At the end of the next turn, the drowsy Pokémon will fall asleep. If a drowsy Pokémon switches out, it loses its drowsiness.
Drowsiness:
- cannot be passed by Baton Pass.
- cannot cause a Pokémon to fall asleep:
- during an Uproar (unless it has Soundproof)
- if it is already afflicted by a non-volatile status condition
- if it has Insomnia, Vital Spirit or Leaf Guard while Harsh Sunlight is effective
- if Misty Terrain or Electric Terrain is effective
- cannot be inflicted to a Pokémon protected by the effects of Safeguard, but a Pokémon that is already drowsy can still fall asleep while under the effect of Safeguard
Yawn bypasses accuracy checks to always hit, unless the target is in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move such as Dig or Fly.
